Rockets, Drones and R/Cs: An FAA Perspective

As the air show environment opens to welcome non-traditional aerial entertainment, the FAA is working to keep pace with the safety and regulatory challenges that these new players introduce. Just this year, the FAA finished work on a policy that directs demonstration of amateur rockets at air shows. FAA officials have also finished work on new guidelines for hosting unmanned aerial vehicles at air shows. And, following several recent close calls, regulators will soon begin work on new guidance on hosting radio-controlled aircraft at an air show or other aviation event. In this session, you'll get an overview of these new policies and how you can work within them to expand the entertainment options at your show.
