ICAS spectator surveys going back thirty years and the day-to-day experience of most event organizers confirm that parking-related problems (including traffic issues caused by parking problems) are the biggest challenge facing the air show community and the surest way to generate adverse publicity about your show. In this session, parking consultant Jeffrey Shapiro will offer a two-part session that will explain the fundamentals of good parking policy and tactics and provide you with an overview of shuttle services. In the parking portion of the program, Shapiro will use props to explain the basic premises of good parking protocols and why following them will reduce or eliminate most of your parking headaches. During the shuttle portion of the program, Jeff will explain when you should consider using a shuttle service, how to structure and position your shuttle services, and how to anticipate and plan for the post-event rush and long lines with people departing.
