ICAS Offers Preliminary Details, Early Bird Discounts on 2012 ICAS Convention

June 26th, 2012
There are quite a lot of changes to the 2012 ICAS Convention, many of which might impact your travel planning. We encourage all of our members to pay particular attention to these changes. First and most importantly, the entire convention is moving forward on the calendar by one week and one day as compared to past years. The traditional welcome reception will be held on Monday, December 10. The opening general session and first exhibit hall sessions will be held on Tuesday, December 11. The Marketing Competition Luncheon and second day of exhibit sessions will be held on Wednesday, December 12. And the final exhibit session and Chairman’s Banquet will be held on Thursday, December 13. ICAS will also include considerably more educational programming on the first day of the convention – Monday, December 10 – as compared to previous conventions, including free half-day educational sessions on Safety Management System principles for both event organizers and performers; our popular Air Shows 101 Air/Ground Operations Seminar; an advanced workshop on sponsorship; a free four-hour introductory tutorial on social media; a free 75-minute tutorial on understanding and completing DD Form 2535 and FAA Form 7711-2; a new 75-minute panel discussion featuring the event coordinators for the Blue Angels, Thunderbirds and Snowbirds; the traditional pilot safety stand-down; our first-timers orientation session; a session featuring the results of our 2012 air show spectator survey; and the first several sessions of our introductory-level Air Show Business Basics program. “We’ve beefed up the educational programming on the first day of the convention in response to requests from members,” says ICAS President John Cudahy. “By getting to Las Vegas early in the day rather than later, members can significantly increase their education programming options without incurring additional hotel sleeping room expenses.” ICAS also wants to remind members that the very best early bird registration discounts – as much as $85 compared to the on-site rate -- are available between now and July 31.
