B-17 Liberty Belle Burns after Forced Landing, No Serious Injuries

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the B-17 “Liberty Belle” crashed and burned at approximately 9:30 a.m. CDT on Monday, June 13, in a cornfield near Aurora Airport in Illinois, about 50 miles west of Chicago. The newspaper has also reported that all seven people aboard the aircraft escaped without serious injury. After reporting an engine fire, the pilot of the aircraft made an emergency landing in a cornfield. A frequent participant in North American air shows, “Liberty Belle” is owned by the Miami-based Liberty Foundation.
