The Psychology and Physiology of Mental Trauma: Recovering Following Tragedy

Tuesday, December 5th 2017 9:45 am - 10:45 am

Despite our industry’s best efforts and an improving safety record, accidents are sometimes a part of our business. Often, survivors of these tragedies are left to process and recover on their own. In this session, a subject matter expert will explain both the psychology and physiology of emotional trauma and provide you with practical tools for recovering, whether you have experienced tragedy yourself or are helping a friend or colleague. Using real-world examples, she’ll explain how different individuals respond to tragedy and the best methods and tactics for helping them recover. You’ll also hear from a member of our own air show family who has been trained in critical incident response and will share the air show-related aspects of that program.
